QR Codes on CBD Packaging and Labeling

The Utah Department of Agriculture and Food (UDAF) made it mandatory to include QR Code labels for all hemp products, including CBD oils, which will be legal for purchase only when labeled.

The label should inform consumers about the ingredients used and a certificate of analysis done by a third-party lab.

With this announcement, Utah joins the bandwagon of states with similar label requirements – Indiana and Oregon.

In 2019, not all states in the U.S. required QR codes on them. However, most reputable CBD companies have switched to QR Codes on labels. Not just that, adding a QR code to a physical product unlocks a host of opportunities for the brand, which we will touch upon later in the article.
